Pisgah Legal Services and the Pro Bono Committee of the 28th JDB will be offering the 4.5 credit hour CLE “Poverty Law Training for ‘Hotline’ Pro Bono Attorneys on Friday, March 16, 2012.
The CLE will provide an overview of legal issues for assisting low-income clients to secure housing, income and safety. This training is offered to provide support to volunteer attorneys who advise low-income clients through the Mountain Area Volunteer Lawyer Program Hotline.
Attendees will receive one hour of ethics credit. The CLE will be held from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the O.E. Starnes Conference Room at The Van Winkle Law Office at 11 North Market Street. The CLE is free for attorneys who participate or agree to participate in the Mountain Area Volunteer Lawyer Hotline Program.
Please note that attendees will be responsible for paying the NC State Bar CLE credit fee. Lunch will be available and please indicate on the registration form your lunch preference. The deadline for registering is Tuesday, March 13, 2012. To sign up, click the button at the bottom of this page.

9:30 – 10:00: A presentation on the importance of holistic legal assessment.
10:00 – 10:15: Break
10:15 – 11:45: Debtor-Creditor/Consumer Presentation
11:45-12:30: Lunch – provided on-site by Neo Burrito for $10
12:30-1:30: Housing Presentation
1:30 – 2:30: Ethics Presentation
2:30 – 3:00: Family Law and Domestic Violence
